Alex (he, him, his) is a Bay Area-based activist, genealogist and historian. In 2010 he became the youngest certified genealogist in the nation at age 15, specializing in teaching African American research methods. With over a decade of experience in archives, libraries and museums, he has worked with hundreds of families across the globe to learn about their own family histories. He is currently working on his first major publication “Leaving New Orleans: A Personal Urban History” alongside Dr. Leslie M. Harries. He is on a mission to make family history accessible, understandable, and healing for people of color the world over.
